The Great MM AI Video Generation Experiment
Generative AI is So Very Good…And So Very Imperfect
Incorporating AI into our workflow has been a priority at Market Mentors for a while now. We’re always testing and implementing tools for note-taking, project coordination, design, ideation, research, presentations and more.
We’ve found great efficiencies—and a few cautionary tales.
AI evolves fast, so any conclusions are likely to be outdated within weeks. But the value is in the process: pushing boundaries, learning what works, and spotting the limits.
The Great MM AI Video Generation Experiment of 2025
Back in 2024, we launched an internal AI Taskforce to help the agency embrace AI across departments. It eventually grew into a structured framework for agency-wide adoption.
One standout idea from the creative team? A full-on experiment:
The Goal:
Create a Market Mentors-branded video using AI
The Rules:
- Everyone in our creative department had to participate
- Every phase had to use some form of AI
The Process, Step By Step:
- Scriptwriting: Used ChatGPT to generate the script
- Character Development: Created characters via ChatGPT’s image generator
- Scene Generation: Same tool for scene visuals
- Animations: Used VEO3 to animate each scene
- Soundtrack: Composed via Suno, fully AI-generated
- Post-production: Used Premiere to clean up, stitch scenes—this was our only partial non-AI phase
Stretching Our Comfort Zones and Getting Creative
This experiment gave team members outside design roles a chance to try their hand at AI visuals. Here’s what we found:
- Interfaces were user-friendly
- Initial results were strong—but often had something off
- Editing AI output was tough; tweaks broke other elements
- AI sometimes flat-out ignored instructions
- Starting over with fresh prompts usually worked best
- Outcomes were more magical than predictable
Bottom line? AI doesn’t love constraints. Great for experimentation, less so for strict branding or structured storytelling.
Taming the Beast: Mastering the Art of the Prompt
We got better with prompts over time, but our designers became the true prompt whisperers:
- Writers learned what not to do
- Designers fine-tuned the magic, taking the lead on tricky clips
Once we had usable footage:
- Post-production was smooth
- We took feedback from preview audiences
- Final video = tighter, cleaner and ready to share
The Takeaways: Use AI Only Where It Truly Helps
Our guiding principle is
Automate the ordinary; humanize the extraordinary.®
AI helps us move faster—but speed isn’t everything. It’s great at logic. Humans are better at the unexpected, the heartfelt, the unique.
We use AI to:
- Streamline repetitive tasks
- Give time back to our creative humans
- Keep the focus on solving real client challenges
Sure, AI can do creative work. But it pulls from what it’s been fed, and that’s what’s already out there. We creative humans come up with ideas that haven’t been done yet.
So, is the video perfect? Not even close. Is it adorable? Absolutely.
We’re proud of it—but it’s more cautionary tale than creative triumph. And we’re cool with that.
Enjoy the show.
